Teaming up with Christians in Sport

We are pleased to announce a partnership with Christians in Sport to provide part-time biblical training for their interns who are engaged in gospel ministry to sportspeople.

Christians in Sport aim to reach the world of sport for Christ by helping churches in evangelistic preaching to sportspeople and supporting church members in their sports clubs, school and university teams throughout the UK. Since there are over 150,000 sports clubs in the UK, this represents a large and dynamic mission field, which Christians in Sport is serving by working to see Christians in every sports club, representing Christ and building the local church.

Mike Ovey, Principal of Oak Hill College, says, “This exciting new partnership with Christians in Sport is a great opportunity for us as a College. We share their vision of taking the good news of Jesus into the places where people find community and share their lives today, and we are greatly looking forward to equipping Christian workers for that challenge.”

Graham Daniels, General Director of Christians in Sport, says, “We want to give our interns everything they need for spreading the gospel among sportspeople, and the training provided by Oak Hill will get them off to a flying start. The College’s mix of theological and practical training will give them a solid footing for their ministry in the sports world.”

The first interns from Christians in Sport will come to Oak Hill this September, and will enroll in a two year diploma programme.

The training they receive will give them a thorough grounding in the Bible and theology, so they will be able to go out to preach, lead camps and Bible studies, and work with people one-on-one in a biblically informed way.
